How do you edit a tag or table in the gui?

January 9th, 2009
  • This must be terribly easy but I have combed all the docs I could find and I still can't figure it out.

Could someone please tell me how I can edit the attributes of a tag using the graphical interface as opposed to editing the html directly?

For example, I have a table, I want to change something within it. I was given the chance to add all the values to the table when I created it but now I cannot seem to get back to that nice window which lets me edit the table.

I see that if I right-click on a tag, there's a greyed out Edit Tag. I've tried selecting about everything I can think of on the screen, it remains greyed out.

Any kind clues will be appreciated.

  • Michael,

It's been a while since you posted your question, so I guess the answer is: No one knows!

I believe the "Edit Tag" in the popup menu is for only a limited number of tags, like the tag. Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong.

It seems that that nice gui that initially created the table is limited to that first experience, since it cannot be used to edit that table later. In a way, one wishes that this were not so, since the gui lays out the information so well. On the other hand, the gui is VERY limited on what code it can create. Then, if one considers the infinite possibilities possible of nesting tables, combining columns and rows, and inidividual table, row, and cell styles, it is easy to see why it would be very difficult to interpret this into a gui for the purposes of modifying the code.

Your best bet is to work in HTML, then use the Preview screen to check your progress to see if it is going as planned.

    Good luck!
